Full Women's Singles Free Program | Albertville 1992 Replays

We take a look back to the Women's singles free program in Figure Skating at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville. Japanese figure skater Midori Ito, the hot favourite, only placed fourth in the short program when she fell on her triple Lutz jump. Her competitors Kristi Yamaguchi and Nancy Kerrigan completed their triple Lutz-double toe loop combinations and then placed first and second. In the free skating, Midori Ito failed her triple Axel but she did not give up and managed to land it successfully with a second attempt at the end of her program. Thereby, Ito became the first woman ever to land one at the Olympic Games. She won the silver medal for Japan, with Kristi Yamaguchi claiming Gold.
